Dean's List Student Award

Dean’s list award is one of dream for all students in this world. This award will be awarded to students who achieve the Grade Point Average (GPA) pointer grade from 3.50 and above. This honors the academic accomplishments of our university undergraduate students each term by awarding placement on the Dean’s List award.

These awards are given at the end of each term and are not recalculated based on grade changes or the removal of incomplete grades. The award will accredit through a letter from the respective dean’s office and with a notation on the student’s academic transcript.

Dean’s list awards are one of important things that student needs for applying future career instead not only the co-curricular award that they need. This award will approve that the student is qualified and can give the great quality and can give the great quality for being an employee. Studying at University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), is one of the most outstanding university with the popular programme, with the student quality and this university is under TNB

The condition for student who wants to be awarded as Dean’s list:-
Ø    Obtains a Grade Point Average (GPA) 3.50 and above
Ø    Has grades of not than C in any subjects taken during that semester
Ø    Carries a work load of at least 12 credit hours and above will be
       included in the Dean’s list in that following semesters.

The performances of students are indicated by their grade need obtained. The relationship between the grade and the Grade Point is as shown table below:

This award, will be awarded to them at Majlis Anugerah Kemilau Emas and also known as Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Aktiviti Pelajar (UNITEN).

College of Foundation & General Studies.



College of Foundation and General Studies, it has been launched on 1 April 2011. The College of Foundation and General Studies consists of 3 distinct departments at University Tenaga Nasional, Putrajaya Campus. They are the Department of Science, Mathematics & Technology, Department of Languages and Communication and Department of Social Sciences.

The objective is to prepare the pathway for students into the various bachelors degree programmes offered in the university. Since June 2003, Universiti Tenaga Nasional has been accepting student that qualified Sijil Penilaian Malaysia (SPM) and it equivalent to apply further studies, into a one-year Foundation programme. 

Students who complete the Foundation programme successfully will be able to further studies in the Degree (Honours) programmes at University Tenaga Nasional also they can further studies other universities in Malaysia or aboard. The Foundation programmes provide an a  of disciplines that need as the main condition for students entrance into UNITEN instead of the qualification.


Besides that, during foundation is the time for them to be independent and learn to study with different environment compare their school life. In addition,  these foundation studies will teach and train our student to be confident in their self being a good student, good leader, good worker and for future life.

Department of Science, Mathematics & Technology


            This department offer courses in fundamental sciences and mathematics to students of the College of Foundation and General Studies. However, these course in mathematics, physics and chemistry are develop to make the students are complete with knowledge of science and mathematics foundations before they can proceed to their degree programs.
            In addition, the department offers 11 mathematics, 7 physics and 3 chemistry courses. Most of the courses offered are develop to help engineering, computer science information technology students is to make them ready for that knowledge at their future degree programmes. The purpose is to prepare themselves for more advance courses in engineering, computer science and information technology at degree programmes in future.
            The department has three physics and two chemistry laboratories. All the laboratories are air-conditioned and equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment. Laboratory classes are conducted either by lectures themselves or tutors who are closely supervised by the lecturers. In addition, the department has two research laboratories and on computing laboratory for lectures, postgraduate student and final year engineering students to conduct various research activities related to science and mathematics disciplines. 

Department of Languages and Communication


Offers English courses which are designed to develop overall English proficiency as well as to develop other skills important for communication. These include public speaking skills, presentation skills and writing skills required for academic purposes as well as those required on the job. The courses also expose students to critical reading and thinking skills through class readings, discussions and group project. Apart from language and communication courses, the department also offers several other international language courses such as Mandarin, Japanese, Arabic, French and German. The foreign language class is offered to Degree students who may wish to acquire another language to boost their chances of employability. 
Department of Social Science


Focuses on the developments in the field of social sciences for University Tenaga Nasional students. The courses offered by Department are compulsory LAN subject and student select them based on their interests. Among the subjects are Malaysian Studies, Moral Studies and also other preferred subjects for example Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Comparative Religion. The courses are capable of empowering students with knowledge and benefits after their graduation especially on current issues and global requirements, in addition, the department also conducts various short-term courses annually such as counseling as well as staff and student motivation courses.

            As a progressive Department, a Social Science seminar programme is conducted by the department annually to engage experts in the field for discussions in dialogues which are attended by students and invited lecturers from local and abroad.
